Overview
Welcome to the development diary for Project Lost Dreadnought, my current endeavor to create a compelling RPG game for PC. As a full-stack developer, I am bringing this project to life independently, handling everything from programming and game design to asset creation and story development. This diary will serve as a place to share progress updates, technical insights, and creative decisions as I work toward creating an immersive RPG experience.
Development Goals
The initial goal is to build a strong foundational game that demonstrates both quality and creativity, positioning Project Lost Dreadnought for potential publication. This phase focuses on creating a fully playable game prototype that showcases its core mechanics, atmosphere, and storyline. Here’s what I’m focusing on:
- World-Building and Storytelling: The game’s narrative is central to its appeal. Set in a rich, dark fantasy world, Lost Dreadnought explores themes of heroism, mysticism, and moral ambiguity, inviting players to shape their path and impact the world around them.
- Gameplay Mechanics and Combat: Developing a combat system that’s both strategic and rewarding, with mechanics that encourage players to explore and experiment. The game also includes advanced movement options, allowing players to navigate the environment dynamically.
- Atmosphere and Visual Design: Crafting detailed, atmospheric visuals is essential to creating an immersive experience. From eerie landscapes to intricate character designs, each visual element contributes to a dark, compelling world that feels both mysterious and alive.
Current Development Phase
Currently, I am focusing on core functionality, such as character controls, combat mechanics, and environment design. This foundational work ensures a seamless player experience and will form the basis for further expansion. Each week, I work through key elements in design, programming, and testing, refining systems to create a polished and engaging game environment.
Future Plans and Team Expansion
Once the prototype is complete, the next steps will include seeking publishing partnerships and expanding the development team. With a publishing deal, Project Lost Dreadnought can grow in scope and quality, incorporating more elaborate design features, a wider narrative scope, and enhanced assets.
Stay tuned for regular updates in this development diary as I continue to bring Project Lost Dreadnought to life!
